Spiritual Epiphany leads to better health!

One man’s story of going from a spiritual epiphany to better lifestyle choices that led to improved health!

My journey began two years ago. Most of my life I always thought I was a relatively healthy person but for about 10 years I was just eating whatever. I ate junk food, sweets, fast food, pork, processed foods, etc without even giving it much thought…I basically just let myself go. I never gave much thought to what I was putting in my body or having a clear conscious of how it got on my plate. All I saw was the end product and unfortunately it was usually always out of a box or take out bag. Two years ago I had a spiritual epiphany and I surrendered myself back to God and Christ. I had been living a very unhealthy lifestyle, not just in diet but it spirit too. When I let it all go and gave it all to Him I started to think, “what’s next?” I honestly kicked the devils! But after beating myself up, and my body, for over a decade, I still was yearning for something more. I asked myself, “What else can I do to improve my way of life, the quality of my life?” The more and more I started to read and educate myself, the more conscious I became in knowing just exactly what I was putting in my body and what is being put in our foods. I started to see how much cruelty, suffering, and pain was inflicted on animals produced for meat, and their poor treatment and living conditions.

As I dug deeper I realized it wasn’t just solely about animals rights and compassion. I discovered there’s more to this transformation and way of life. I read how the overproduction of animals is not good for our environment, how all the grain that is used to feed factory farmed animals is GMO’d and how that same grain can be used to feed the starving people in the world times over. I uncovered the lies we have been told our whole lives and how these huge companies and sponsors profit off our own ignorance and the inhumane treatment of life. The more and more I became aware, the more I felt like pushing myself. I decided to stand up and take a stance! I no longer wanted to be a part or , or associated with,  the exploitation of animals and be controlled by the same groups that could care less.

For a spiritual stance, it made perfect sense to me as well, that the original plants, herbs, and seeds that God put on this earth in the Garden of Eden where for us to eat. I was like, “there’s no mention of eating animals in the Garden?” Food,  in it’s most organic state,  without any tampering from man or genetically modified foods created in a laboratory,  is the key to vitality and nutrition.

I started by giving up everything I knew that was bad for me. It definitely was an evolution of sorts. At the beginning I weighed 172lbs at 5’5” and I was pushing a 36” waist. More importantly I felt unhappy with my body and how I felt everyday. I decided I would try to go vegetarian so I gave up all meats except eggs. I was still eating cheeses, some dairy, but definitely no junk. After 6 months I was down to around 156lbs or so and feeling much better but I still wasn’t satisfied in my heart. That’s when I decided that it was time to change this “diet” into a way of life. I ditched all the animal byproducts and went vegan. I am mainly a raw vegan adhering from anything processed but occasionally I’ll have some vegan cheats.

hwf vegan

After I went vegan I continued to gradually lose weight and feel healthier. I currently weigh 138lbs and have a 29” waist. My endurance increased, all the worts I had on my hands vanished, I never got headaches, my complexion cleared up and all sorts of wonderful things started to happen to me. Most importantly, I woke up every morning knowing in my heart that I could live my life without ANY suffering to ANY living thing on earth. I could save on deforestation, water conservation, CO2 emissions, and prevent so many preventable diseases and potentially prevent and reverse cancer. It’s such an empowering feeling and it feels well with my soul ☺️.

hwf empower

I wouldn’t change it for the world and my hope honestly is for people to educate themselves and start looking at what exactly we are doing to ourselves and others. How are we contributing or making an effort to try to be the change we want to see in the world? For me, it’s ultimate compassion and having a clear consciousness. So that’s my testimony. Sorry it was a bit long winded but I hope someone got something out of it? Remember, your body is a temple and health is wealth my brothers and sisters. Have a great and blessed day!

Thank you,

Beau Shanks

Thank you Beau for sharing this testimony for others to learn from !

15 Year Cancer Survivor Shares her Journey to Natural Health

My Journey to Natural Health as a Cancer Survivor

by Danna M. Kinsella          1/11/2018

“One day, you will go through a very difficult time in your life, which will include losing a child at birth and then immediately following, a bone marrow transplant for Acute Myeloid Leukemia.”

Does anyone grow up expecting this??  Of course not.  I certainly didn’t.  But this was the road I found myself on beginning in May of 2003.

SONY DSC

Growing up as an active child who ran around outside almost every day, played at the park with her sister and dad, and was involved in basketball, track, and cross-country running in high school, I considered myself very healthy.  I was never sick (besides having chicken pox and the occasional cold) and rarely missed a day of school from elementary all the way up through 12th grade.  I got lots of sleep each night and always had energy.  I don’t remember having to go to doctor appointments, except for the yearly physical exam needed for permission to play sports.

“So, how would someone like you all of a sudden, at 24 years old, find themselves at the brink of death, with barely enough white blood cells in your body to survive, fighting leukemia?”.  I’m really glad you asked.  Do I know the exact reason why or how this happened?  No.  But, I do believe there were some things that possibly led to this sickness.  And that is one of the main reasons I am writing this now.  I want to help as many others as I can.  As Johann Wolfgang von Goethe once said, “Precaution is better than a cure.”.

hwf prevention

I believe that we can ALL prevent disease by focusing on our nutrition and avoiding toxic chemicals found in today’s “food”, skin care, “health” care products, cosmetics, and the things we allow in our homes.

Does this mean that we will never experience sickness if we do these things?  Maybe.  Maybe not.  We live in a fallen world where tough times come upon us even when we don’t understand or expect it.  BUT, I believe by learning and being willing to change habits, as I did, you can severely lower your chances.

Soon after coming home from a three-month stay in the hospital, I started learning more about the food I was eating and what to eat instead.

Fresh green vegetables

This began a new journey for me that still continues today- 14 ½ years later.  A friend gave me a natural foods cookbook.  At first, I thought it was weird, honestly.  I didn’t really feel like giving up the sugary cereal I ate in the mornings and triple chocolate ice cream I liked to have at night.  I also started learning about the toxic chemicals that are found in SO many household cleaners, air “fresheners”, body products, and make up.  Yikes!  I was a bit overwhelmed at first!  But, one thing I knew… I did NOT to want to be sick again.  I wanted to go on to live the healthiest life I could possibly live.  So, I started changing my habits, changing my grocery list, changing what I put on my body, and changing what I cleaned my house with.

Back in 2003, most people thought it was a bit strange to live like this.  Organic supermarkets and natural alternatives weren’t very popular in the United States yet.

Over the last 14 ½ years I have learned more and more, and I am so thankful that these alternatives have become much more common.  People are being educated and realizing the importance of living a healthy lifestyle, even if cancer has not been a road they, thankfully, had to walk down.  I have learned to avoid processed foods, toxic preservatives, processed sugars (and even too many natural sugar and fruit), soy, hormones, antibiotics, and dyes in my food.  I realized many years ago that sugar severely suppresses the immune system, which can lead to sickness and disease, including cancer. I have also chosen to avoid dairy and wheat because of how I feel (bloated, fatigued, and foggy-brained) when I eat them.

I truly believe that switching my health and beauty products was an equally important decision, considering the fact that what we put on our skin, and even what we breathe in, immediately goes into the bloodstream, affecting every cell in the body.

As a leukemia survivor (cancer of the blood), you can imagine how I felt once I learned about this.  I decided to switch my variety of low-priced, low-quality, yet high-toxin brands to Arbonne, a brand that follows European guidelines (which are much more strict, banning over 1500 chemicals in their food and personal care) and used botanically-based formulas instead.  I have since become an Independent Consultant for Arbonne because of my strong belief in using pure and safe products.

hwf arbonne

I love helping others learn more and take proactive steps to creating a healthier lifestyle.  I love seeing lives transformed.  I want to make myself available to all those God places in my path, as I know He is using all the hardships I went through for good and to be a blessing to many.

Thank you Danna for sharing this. Just to clarify to readers, Danna wrote this, I inserted the pictures. If you would like to contact Danna about Arbonne, you can reach her at dannamichele@gmail.com and her site here.

Next week I will be sharing  more details about Danna’s statement on the effects of  the toxic chemicals in so many of our skin and hygiene products.

May you have a blessed week!

New Years Resolutions OR….

Every year around this time of year, people make all kinds of declarations of New Year’s resolutions to do things better with their lives.

It is tradition after all, and people even ask you about your new year’s resolutions! Should we as believers be making new year’s resolutions? I am not saying we should not, but I am saying, let’s think about it. We are told to not be conformed to the world ( Rom 12:2),  so why just automatically go with the world on this ( and other things, btw). One of the main reasons I do question them is because often they are promises we make to ourselves (and maybe others) that we break within a month! But He tells us that we should not break our promises many, many, many times in His Word! (Mth 5:37, Ecl. 5:4-6,  Pr 10:19, Pr 20:25,  James 5:12 to name just s few) Making promises you will not keep ( possibly New Year’s resolutions) is wrong,  according to Him!

I believe there is something even better and more effective for bettering our lives than promises to ourselves that often get broken and then given up on entirely.

Would it not be better to daily evaluate our actions, and daily determine to do better? I only quoted the first phrase in Romans 12:2 above, here is the whole verse: And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, so that you may prove what the will of God is, that which is good and acceptable and perfect.

Before we can better our actions and the outcome of them, we need to have our minds renewed in Him.

Then we can set goals as led by Him, through His Word and His Spirit. Without the regular renewal of our minds, we can fall into just thinking that what we feel like is His will. But that is just not true if we do not take the time to know Him, which in large part is done by knowing His Word.

So I propose that instead of making resolutions with the world, why don’t we rededicate or recommit our minds to Him, so that we can then accurately dedicate our whole lives to Him!

This would include, but not be limited to, dedicating our bodies, His Temple (I Cor 3:16-19 and I Cor 6:19-20) , to Him. Within one of these verses we are warned against destroying the temple of God, pointing out that the Temple of God is holy, and that therefore we are holy. Should we then defile His Temple with foods, actions or non-actions that destroy it? Believers use these verses to say one should not smoke cigarettes, but many of the things sold and eaten as food can be much worse for our bodies than the smoking of cigarettes,  and just as addicting! To know the details of this, one would need to renew their mind with information about our food sources ( which you can do here with my blogs!) .

The best thing about dedicating ourselves to Him is that He has provided us His Holy Spirit to help us, we are a bit helpless without Him.

Resolutions get broken and given up on, dedication to Him allows Him to help us better ourselves and receive His gracious help back up when we do fall. There is no need to give up on our journey with Him, because He is there with us , guiding us, loving us, and empowering us. HalleluYah!!

The end of one of the mentioned verses says to “glorify God in your body”. Will you do this by improving  daily what you put into His temple? But even before that , or simultaneously,  will you purpose to renew your mind daily in Him?

Col 3:23 Whatever you do, do your work heartily, as for the Lord rather than for men!

Titus 2:11-12 For the saving Gift of God has appeared to all men, instructing us to renounce wickedness and worldly lusts, and to live sensibly, righteously , and reverently in the present age
